My name is Leo and I would love to develop a DMM for schools and universities.
The focus should not be on accuracy but on reliability and repairability. With most DMMs it is a pain to replace the fuses and sometimes these are quite expensive as well.
I would like to change that. My DMM should use normal cheap melting fuses and they should be replaceable in seconds.
Also there should be several other different security features to avoid wrong measurements. The PCB should be open source and modular so that the schools could manufacture and repair it on their own.
In schools for technical professions often accuracy isn't as important as the fact that everyone has got a DMM to measure the basic values to learn the most fundamental things to understand electricity.
It would be great to have some equipment to develop equipment for other people to give them a good start in their education.
